Rather weird, rather long, very convoluted

Each time the narrator wakes up he is inhabiting a different body. For me this book is kind of reminiscent of Agatha Christie murder mysteries. It takes place at an out of the way home with lots of suspicious characters and you never really know what's going on. That, for me, was it's downfall. I felt like I was confused about what was going on much of the time. Maybe that was the idea...but for me this book was more like work than something to relax and enjoy.

I'm in the minority but DNF at page 218. decided I didn't care who killed evelyn hardcastle or why.

This is possibly one of the most intriguing novels I have ever read. Filled with a cast of characters that are hard to imagine to be in one place. Aiden Bishop finds himself in the body of different hosts as he tries to find out the answer to the mystery of who killed Evelyn Hardcastle. As the story progresses more questions arise, more things are revealed as he lives the same day over and over and over again searching for the final answer. But when the why and wherefore of the whole journey is revealed your mind will be blown. Intense and indescribable this is a book that you will want to read again to see how many clues you may have missed along the way. If you love a great mystery you will love this book and be captured by the concept, the characters and the plot. wOw!!!!!

If you like twisty, convoluted mysteries with narrators who are as confused as you are, this may be your cup of tea. It plays on the classic country house murder story with a "Groundhog Day" twist - our narrator keeps reliving the day of the murder from different perspectives.

Very unusual high concept mystery. Super intricate plot: the reader experiences the same day leading up to the murder many times as the main character jumps from body to body. Yes, it’s weird, but also fascinating. Also, really good!

A New & Noteworthy Best of 2018 pick. Evelyn Hardcastle will die. Aiden Bishop is trapped in a “Groundhog Day” cycle where he needs to solve the murder. Every day he inhabits a different body to gather clues. A convoluted conundrum of a mystery, and you’re going to love it!

This is a mind blowing genre-bender for the ages! It has something for lovers of mystery, thrillers, and science fiction in it. Don't let that last genre deter you; there are no robots or aliens but there are definitely some elements of the story that qualify as not being strictly mystery/thriller. In fact, I'd go so far as saying that there are some threads of horror hear as well.

The story mainly takes place in a setting that hints at being post war England (the book doesn't specify so it could be either World War) and takes you on an edge of your seat ride as the main character jumps between bodies while trying to figure out who killed the title character. Nothing and no one is what they seem in this book. I will definitely be offering it as a recommendation to my patrons.

Color me confused but impressed. This is a twisty turny wildly complicated book and I applaud the author because I'm pretty sure it made sense if you stopped and thought about it. Incredibly detailed and a good reminder of why I mostly read fluff. But it was an interesting read all the same.

Buckle up your seatbelts, readers! This is a mindbending, genreblasting rollercoaster of a read. As described it contains elements of Groundhog Day and Quantum Leap. With all there is to learn in the eight days given to our protagonist to solve the mystery, will he even believe Evelyn is worth saving?
Reminiscent of "Dark Matter" by Blake Crouch as you are doing mental gymnastics and a fabulous choice for book groups. This edition even had discussion questions included.

A hearty thank you to Sourcebooks and Edelweiss for a digital ARC of this captivating new title.
