From the windows of a high school classroom, students see paratroopers land on the varsity football field. The invasion of the United States has begun. As their town is overrun by foreign nationals, eight teenagers escape to the mountains. Taking the name of their high school football team, the Wolverines, they wage an unremitting guerrilla action in defense of their parents, their friends and their country.

The United States is attacked/taken over by the Cubans.

Well, guess we didn’t see that coming. Russia helps, so of course it is completely plausible. The entire Air Force, well, not to mention the rest of the Armed Forces, well you know, are rendered ineffectual.

Don’t worry though, a band of six or so teens has your backs. Good thing Howard the Duck’s girlfriend shows up!

Sarcasm aside, it’s actually reasonably well done, and a pretty good movie.

I hadn't seen this movie since it first came out. Watching it again was just as enthralling as it was then. Fantastic movie, great acting, great story...the list goes on. Definitely a must see for teens on up to adult.

This is an amazing movie love the action but might not be a good movie for younger ones. So sad ending however, i still love this movie. It really gives you a look at how things would be different if that happened to are country. <3 the movie

Yeah, I'm not sure how I missed this dystopian flick when it first came out, but it was very good, thanks to John Milius' writing. The fact that the heroes were teenagers was key; this story wouldn't have been nearly as heartfelt or novel had they been adults. Milius has contributed his writing skills to several other major projects that I've enjoyed: "Dirty Harry", "Jeremiah Johnson", "Apocalypse Now", "Conan the Barbarian"... and more recently the 2005 - 2007 well received HBO series "Rome", which I hope to find the time to check out. (And I'm almost certain I won't find the time for the current remake of this -- it smells bad)

A much better movie than the highly sanitized, politically correct newer version—and I not a fan of Swayze, mind you! I had never watched it before and was quite surprised at how much I liked this movie. Very interesting, realistic situations, some quite dramatic, some have to do with very hard choices—and by kids, which makes the choice even more thought-provoking. The kids in this movie grow up very quickly, wake up from a cuddly small town life to a harsh life of guerrillas, fighting for their country’s freedom. Quite touching and really worth watching.
