Polly Waterford flees to the Cornish coast to escape a ruined relationship. To keep her mind off her troubles, she throws herself into her favorite hobby: making bread. But her relaxing weekend diversion quickly develops into a passion. As she pours her emotions into kneading and pounding the dough, each loaf becomes better than the last. Soon, Polly is working her magic with nuts and seeds, chocolate and sugar, and the local honey--courtesy of a handsome beekeeper. Packed with laughter and emotion, Little Beach Street Bakery is the story of how one woman discovered bright new life where she least expected it.

I enjoyed the book, nice light reading for being on the couch with the flu.
Made me want to get up and bake something,.....almost!

Little Beach Street Bakery was a fun novel to read. I admired Polly's character, specifically her decision to move away and make a life for herself despite the opinions of her loved ones. I can identify with her in that regard, including moving from a big city to a smaller town.

This is the second novel that I've read written by Jenny Colgan; and I am not afraid to admit that I'm becoming a fan of her books.

This book was much sadder than I expected. But I did love the subplot with the puffin.

An engaging glimpse into life in rural England. Enjoyed the book thoroughly and her characters are very real. I will definitely read her other books.

I really enjoy books by Jenny Colgan. I really liked this book and she is a good writer. It is like you are there in Cornwall. As I read this book, all I wanted to do was bake some bread. Recipes are also included! :)

Excellent British chick lit! The setting is Cornwall, the characters are fun, and there is a puffin named Neil. Great summer read!

Jenny Colgan is a very good storyteller. Heartwarming stories of people rebuilding or building their lives. Sometimes it's messy, nothing is taken for granted, and a lot of hard work is involved. The characters are endearing and this particular one is about a young woman remaking her life in a small village and fitting in just fine, despite all the obstacles. Very nice to read something that doesn't involve people seeking loads of money, high profile careers, fancy houses and belongings, but rather living life well and being a lovable person.
