More than half a century ago, the naturalist Farley Mowat accepted an assignment to investigate why wolves were killing Arctic caribou. Mowat's account of the summer he lived in the frozen tundra alone?? studying the wolf population and developing a deep affection for these wild creatures (who were no threat to caribou or man)?? is today celebrated as a classic of nature writing, at once a tale of remarkable adventure and an indelible record of the myths and magic of wolves. Never Cry Wolf was made into a major motion picture by Walt Disney Productions.

Booklist makes Never Cry Wolf sound of interest only to serious wildlife students. Farley Mowat is a storyteller and through the story we learn and are entertained.

This story should be a mandatory read for all Canadians... the heroic story of a Canadian legend who overturned the myth about wolves, demonstrating what noble, loving and intelligent creatures they are. Farley is a hero forever because of this book. His love and passion for all wildlife, as he calls "The Others" with whom we share our planet, is inspirational. An exceptional story by an exceptional author! I hope WPL will get this story in book form again some day.
