Over 6 hours of BS that could of been edited to 1-1/2 hours! Long draw out series! Very boring! I can't believe I watch this whole BS 370 minutes of crap!
Why does it take 6 hours, to tell the story,
2 hours, would be, more than enough.
A completely addictive mini series, with outstanding performances by a stellar cast. Love the soundtrack, too. Highly recommended.
Good acting, so-so story, irritating explanations, mildly entertaining with the luxurious surroundings.
A very strident obnoxious Reece Witherspoon character (usually love r.w.). A plastic faced Nicole Kidman, and Laura Dern as the mother of that little girl! Grandmother maybe.
Odds and ends of characters who talk directly to the camera, totally disrupting the flow of the story. Not on my time.
One of the best mini-series in recent memory. The kaleidoscopic structure; brilliant direction, writing and acting raises the soap opera to the level of art. I was immediately hooked — binged it till 4 a.m.
Was really looking forward to this, but after just finishing the book, I was really disappointed. Just an FYI for anyone who’s read the book, this series is loosely based on the book and not a true adaptation. The big clue? “Season One” ends just minutes before the book finishes, so what the hell is “Season Two” going to be about?
Also, major changes: takes place in California and not Australia; there are guns and smoking in the film version (making it truly American). Subtle differences, Jane is supposed to be waif thin and chewing gum all the time as a consequence of what happened to her, not sleeping with a gun under her pillow. Bonnie is nothing like the written character. An affair is thrown in that doesn’t exist in the book. And on and on ...
Should’ve changed the name of the mini-series.
With the finely crafted script and well picked cast blend effortlessly for a riveting and emotional tale that this mini-series spins. No wonder why they got so many awards. Makes you want another season!
As far as I'm concerned, between this and The Night Of, HBO has the perfect algorithm for constructing a near-perfect miniseries. I started reading the book and just could not get into it, but from the first episode of this I was completely enthralled. This is one of the most binge worthy things I've seen since Stranger Things.
