Kind of a strange movie--and perhaps that's its charm. Colossal is one of those films that gets better after you've had a chance to digest it for a while. Anne Hathaway is the real attraction: as in Rachel Getting Married, this is a jarring role which plays against how we receive her persona in films like The Princess Diaries and even The Intern. Fortunately her star power diverts our attention away from a really tenuous plot device that attempts to tie this all together. The final two scenes in Seoul--the monster standoff and the empty bar--are worth sitting through the whole film to fully enjoy.

A great and creative film. This is a human drama with a nicely integrated bit of fantasy. Despite the weird premise, you shouldn't expect expect something super light or goofy.

More or less a chick flick so females will like the movie more than males. A so-so story, but Anne H. and Jason S. do a great job with their characters. Move the movie faster at some slow scenes and its enjoyable.

A combination of genres, unlikely locations, dark humor, and consistently great acting make for a weirdly satisfying movie.

Clever film! Not a classic monster movie (though it uses some of those elements) so don't let that keep you from watching this if you don't like that genre. Even the synopsis doesn't do this film justice in my opinion, as the film twists away from the initial premise and explores possible ramifications.

Not what I expected. More of a thriller than a comedy. Anne Hathaway gave a great performance but it just felt like something was missing overall.
