Well. Um. That was a wild ride. I can't think of anything to say, so I'm going to say everything.
Nightfall was 794 pages of sheer amazing awesomeness, and if you disagree, the dragons will come for you. Now that we've got that out of the way, I'd like to touch on what I didn't find quite so amazing about this book. It's a short list.
First, I felt like some characters weren't seen as much as they could've been. Grady and Edaline, Alden and Della, Tiergan, Bronte, etc. I miss these guys! Also, the story skipped over a couple periods of at least two weeks - in about half a paragraph. It felt too fast. Also, it was pretty easy to guess who was joining their team, even though everyone seemed surprised. Other than that, I can't think of anything wrong!
What I liked:
Everything! It was so much fun to re-enter Sophie's world, especially with the person who's been thrown into it rather unexpectedly. I'd say more, but . . . spoilers. :) The love square finally seems to be shaking down and resolving - a bit. Although, there is a twist, and *some* people are getting a little touchy/competitive. Also, there's a major plot twist that left me flattened and jumping for joy. It was exactly what I wanted - but not? I think it's pretty safe to say people will like it, though. Finally, I loved the teamwork. Everyone is pitching in and helping, and it's pretty awesome.
To finish, I'll leave you with my favorite quote.
"I guess I should've clarified," [he] shouted over the din. "Their current plan is uncharacteristically reasonable."
Happy reading!

Wow. Shannon Messenger is close to being one of the best authors have ever seen! Characters are superbly written, deep and well-thought-out. Writing style is intense and beautiful as well, filled with meaning. Plot is entertaining and intriguing, filled with exciting twists that will keep you on the edge of your seat all day long. I can't believe there's gonna be a seventh book! Way to go Shannon! You'll be as famous as J.K. Rowling! That cliffhanger was amazing! (And infuriating at the same time, because I have to wait SO LONG for the next one.)

I just have to say—Sophie and Keefe are SO meant for each other. Fitz ain't my fave. Keefe is awesome. Like my comment if you agree.

Team sofitz all the way!!!!!

P.s. I am fifteen almost sixteen and I don't care that these books are age ranged for 9-12 year olds, I love them to much to let a label stop me. Is there any other fans of KOTLC out there who are fellow nerd rebels?

Alvar cleared his throat and managed to rasp, "Where am I?"
"Somewhere you cannot escape," Mr. Forkle told him. "So do not try. Once we see how that water settles, I'll bring you some broth. And in the meantime, you can tell us why the Neverseen wanted to get rid of you, and what they're planning next."
"I don't know what you're talking about!" Alvar snapped.
"Right," Fitz snorted. "You're seriously going to cover for them? After they cut you up and left you to die?"
Alvar thrashed against his bonds again.
"You're going to hurt yourself," Alden warned.
"Then let me go!" Alvar shouted. "Please, I don't know anything."
He turned his desperate gaze to Sophie. "Please help me."
"None of us are buying this, Alvar," Fitz snapped. "Just stop."
"Alvar?" he repeated, every line of his face twisting with confusion.
His eyes darted between them studying their expressions. Then to his bonds. Then back to Sophie.
He huffed out a shaky breath. "Who's Alvar?"

"The past is the only finite thing in this uncertain world, and in a way, that's somewhat comforting. Because it gives us a fixed point to learn from. For better or worse, this loss—and any others we've suffered—makes us stronger, smarter, and more determined to fight back with everything we have." - Mr. Forkle

The Neverseen have had their victories—but the battle is far from over. It’s time to change tactics. Make sacrifices. Reexamine everything. Maybe even time for Sophie to trust her enemies.

All paths lead to Nightfall—an ominous door to an even more ominous place—and Sophie and her friends strike a dangerous bargain to get there. But nothing can prepare them for what they discover. The problems they’re facing stretch deep into their history. And with time running out, and mistakes catching up with them, Sophie and her allies must join forces in ways they never have before.
