My first Greg Iles book and I was very impressed. Good story, good characters and kept my attention. I rate it an 8 of 10.

Turning Angel was my first exposure to Greg Iles and he is a good storyteller. The murder of a promising high school student leads to the exposure of the seamier side of Natchez, Mississippi. There was more gunplay than I expected and there were great action sequences. The legal activities seemed unrealistic to me. I listened to the CD version read by Dick Hill who reads the Jack Reacher novels. Overall he did well with the Southern accents. However, he slipped into saying the name Shad as “Chad” several times. Overall it was enjoyable.
