Once upon a time in the far away kingdom of Dor lived a brave and virtuous mouse with comically oversized ears who dreamt of becoming a knight. Banished from his home for having such lofty ambitions, Despereaux sets off on an amazing adventure with his good-hearted rat friend Roscuro. The two go on a very noble quest to rescue an endangered princess and save an entire kingdom from darkness.

This is big-hearted story of a brave little mouse, a rat worth saving and second chances. The primary themes are not judging by appearance and forgiveness so soup is a wonderful symbol. Despereaux the mouse is part Don Quixote and part Rudy. Having seen the film, I am curious to read the book.

Not just for the young but the young at heart. I know, if you think about it, it's about a rat, a cute and brave one.

Although the animation was phenomenal as was the book, the movie was a huge disappointment.

My 10-year-old son and I did not enjoy this movie - it was a scattered tale at best, with random silliness rampant and nothing satisfying. It's become kind of joke between us of really bad movies!
I will add that the animation was nice.
