I thoroughly enjoyed this move which is surprising since musicals are not normally ..... I thought the actors were very good, the music/dancing was excellent and visually stunning.

La La Land was nice one off romantic musical movie. I found it sweet but not breathtaking or captivating. The actors did well but the storyline was average, and I felt that the movie could have done better through a better storyline.

This movie is so overrated. Visually appealing, but the plot was very weak.

Loved the dance routines and the music was fine. Quite enjoyable!

so much hype about this movie...unfortunately didn't live up to expectation. Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling can't sing or dance at a professional level. Last 20 minutes was good

It's alright but I fell asleep half way through it. The type of movie to watch if you want to pass a Saturday afternoon by.

What can I say but that I love everything about this movie - the story, the music, the dancing, the performances - all superb. It has all the charm of Hollywood musicals of old, but with a modern twist. The lines between fantasy and reality are blurred as Mia and Sebastian try to realize their dreams in Tinseltown. Mia is an aspiring actress and Sebastian wants to open his own jazz club so he neither has to play standards at the piano bar, nor play keyboards in a mediocre band that is forever on tour. They keep stumbling into each other around L.A. Mia takes an interest in him and he eventually sees the light in her. But can one have it all even with hard work and dedication? This is called into question. But we can always dream. The movie is also a love letter to L.A. Various L.A. locales serve as beautiful backdrop to the various song and dance numbers. You'll find yourself singing - "City of stars, are you shining just for me? City of stars, there's so much that I can't see. Who knows, is this the start of something wonderful and new? Or one more dream that I cannot make true?"

wasn't impressed - neither lead is a strong singer or dancer - definitely didn't live up to the hype!

Quite a few in IMDb already but here is one not there -- Audition (The Fools Who Dream)

Stone's aunt P1 of 2:

My aunt used lived in Paris.
I remember, she used to come home and tell us...
These stories about being abroad and...
I remember she told us that she jumped into the river once...
Barefoot
She smiled...
Leapt ...
Without looking
And tumbled into...
The Seine
The water was freezing
She spent a month sneezing
But said she would do it again
Here's to the ones who dream
Foolish as they may seem
Here's to the hearts that ache
Here's to the mess we made
She captured a feeling Sky with no ceilling

Stone's aunt P2 of 2:

The sunset inside a frame
She lived in her liquor And died with a flicker
I'll always remember the flame
Here's to the ones who dream
Foolish as they may seem
Here's to the hearts that ache
Here's to the mess we made
She told me...
"A bit of madeness is key"
"To give us new colors to see"
"Who knows where it will lead us?"
"And that's why they need us"
Bring on the rebels
The ripples from pebbles
The painters, and poets, and plays
And here's to the fools who dream
Crazy as they may seem
Here's to the hearts that break
Here's to the mess we made
I trace it all back to then
Her, and the snow, and the Seine
Smiling trough it
She said she'd do it
Again
