After a devastating heartbreak three years ago, genealogist and historical village owner Nora Bradford has decided that burying her nose in her work and her books is far safer than romance in the here and now. Unlike Nora, former Navy SEAL and Medal of Honor recipient John Lawson is a modern-day man, usually 100 percent focused on the present. But when he's diagnosed with an inherited condition, he's forced to dig into the secrets of his past and his adoption as an infant, enlisting Nora to help him uncover the identity of his birth mother. The more time they spend together, the more this pair of opposites suspects they just might be a perfect match. However, John's already dating someone and Nora's not sure she's ready to trade her crushes on fictional heroes for the risks of a real relationship. Finding the answers they're seeking will test the limits of their identity, their faith, and their devotion to one another.

Lovely and sweet. Finally a book where two committed christians want to do, and do, the right thing. I was getting tired of "christian" romances where the main characters got in relationships with people who didn't care about God or who acted more like regular worldly people. This book was refreshing in the sincerity of the characters faith, and the plot twist brought a message about God that was beautiful and timely. I enjoyed this story.

Have enjoyed some previous books by this author but although I thought it was a little bit slow to start it became an absolutely compelling story with many surprises, a great read. Look forward to more in this series.

As John and Nora work together to find out who John's birth mother is - they discover that they like each other. John is however dating Allie. As time goes on John begins to realized that he misses Nora when they aren't working together. Nora has a crush on John but knows she can't say/do anything because he has a girlfriend. Things become further complicated as time goes on due to some of the things that they find out as they research John's family history. While this is a book about romance it is also a book about John and Nora discovering what is important to each of them. Overall a great book and page turner!
