Of course, with such an obvious title like "Ouija" - I'll bet you could never guess what this little tale of terror is gonna be about. Never.

And, because "Ouija" has a PG-13 rating you can be sure that both its level of horror and its visuals of gore are gonna be toned down, big-time.

And, you can also be sure that (as the story progresses) there's never gonna be any good that ever comes out of playing with an Ouija Board. Never. (even if it's strictly for laughs)

Yes. "Ouija" did have some good production values. And, yes, there were some fairly eerie moments, throughout.

But, overall - Ouija's suspense-factor was sustained for far too long which reduced its story to a purely predictable level that (ho-hum!) ended on one of the most cliched notes imaginable.

Ouija is definitely a horror movie. It has some really good intense scenes and may even push you out of your seat. This is not recommended for children!

Did NOT care much for this film. The first 1/2 hr was alright then it felt fake & boring after that: a lesser copy-cat, version of the great 'Exorcist' film in ideology and scope. Many films in this past decade and genre, have or are copying the Exorcist theme and style of filming. One good mimic that does some justice was - "The Conjuring", which was worth watching and gave it some justice.

A recently widowed mother of two, little Doris and teenage Lena, struggles to make ends meet when there is no life insurance. She sets up a scam fortune teller business complete with rigged table and her daughters doing the lights and sounds. But problems arise when the house is foreclosed upon and they become more desperate for money. Little Doris turns to the Ouija board to ask her father for help. Only he isn't the one who answers, and the spirit who does is from WWII Nazi Germany who came to live in the house after WWII where he committed unspeakable acts on others in the basement. Add a kind priest and a teenage boyfriend and you have the perfect ghost story. Much better than the others in the "Ouija" series. We screamed twice.

The 3 rules: Never play alone. Never play in a graveyard. Always say goodbye.
"As friends we've gathered, hearts are true, spirits near, we call to you."

FYI: Much of this is based on actual pagan magick. Just remember, close the circle before you begin and disseminate spirits before you open again. A circle of salt around you doesn't hurt either.

This is also a fun movie to watch to see what it was like in the 60s. Music, hair, food, slang, everything.
