A deliciously charming novel about finding true love . . . and yourself. Nothing ever happens in Little, CA. Which is just the way Carter Moon likes it. But when Hollywood arrives to film a movie starring former child star turned PR mess Adam Jakes, everything changes. Carter's town becomes a giant glittery set and, much to her annoyance, everyone is starry-eyed for Adam. Carter seems to be the only girl not falling all over herself to get a glimpse of him. Which apparently makes her perfect for the secret offer of a lifetime: playing the role of Adam's girlfriend while he's in town, to improve his public image, in exchange for a hefty paycheck. Her family really needs the money and so Carters agrees. But it turns out Adam isn't at all who she thought he was. As they grow closer, their relationship walks a blurry line between what's real and what's fake, and Carter must open her eyes to the scariest of unexplored worlds - her future. Can Carter figure out what she wants out of life AND get the guy? Or are there no Hollywood endings in real life?

I really liked this book, so I tried not to predict the ending but when I told my mom about the story, SHE TOLD ME THE ENDING and ruined the book for me! >:(

One of my most favorite book yet outstanding the details were great. I sort of had a connection with the main character Carter's decisions on things

This book was so good. I went into it thinking it was going to be some typical cheesy teen novel. It was typical but in such a good way. The way it was written was so incredible and everything tied in together from the main characters job to her last name. My favourite parts were reading the blog that Carter and her friends write. There was so much insight and deep thought in them. They really got me thinking.

The book was well written. We got to see through the perspective of Carter and how she saw the hollywood life and her own realization of her life. Funny.cutsey romance. Love between different people.

This is a young adult romance featuring two very different would-be lovers. The gradual realization that the movie star Adam Jakes is a coat of many different colors comes slowly to Carter Moon and to the reader as well. We’re given a little peek into the inside world of a movie star and along the way muse over such questions as to the meaning behind celebrity and why people get so excited over the presence of stars. Larger subjects of astronomy, philosophy and education also find their way in this book without making it too ponderous for the average YA demographic.

“Catch a Falling Star” may have a generic title and a Hollywood ending. But it raises itself above both with a protagonist that defies convention—until she realizes her own motivations. Maybe it’s not quite a love story but that ambiguity is decidedly part of its charm.

That was the great thing about growing up. We got to write our own endings, thousands of them, over and over. That was life. It was a million little endings. But it was also a million little beginnings. Even when other people thought we were writing them wrong.

But this wasn't a movie. In life, we didn't get to have credits roll to tell us when we'd come to the end of our epiphany arc. To know when to applaud. In life, there were no credits, no sound tracks. In life, things often didn't work out.

"Well, we were talking about how stories need to be retold, right? What about love being a risk worth taking even when it makes no sense? I'd like to discuss that story more."

"People from different worlds can work out," Chloe insisted, sweeping another fry through the ketchup. "I mean, what if you're star-crossed lovers and meant to be?"
