I'm not a big fan of the new Disney-takeover of the SW books and comics. The writing has been mediocre (comics) and mostly bad (books). But the new Darth Vader title is hands down the best out of all them, and easily one of the best comics in the entire industry today!

The writing on the Vader title is truly character driven, which is what I always wanted to see. I don't care about comics with mindless action panels. The art seems just OK at first glance... but then the artists throw in a gleam of the eye, or a Vader helmet that... looks sad? Or angry? And one little touch makes what you thought was just OK artwork, all of a sudden superb and gut wrenching! In other scenes, apparently grubby looking art captures perfect body posture and cinematography that just makes panels pop out.
It's amazing art. In fact, one of my favorite art panels in 30 years of reading comic books comes from this title.

So I gave the book 4.5 stars for writing and, and 4.5 stars for art. This is a very, very well done title. Not for kids though! The story revolves around criminals, war criminals, serial killers, and Sith Lords (worst of all) all doing bad things- and the tales are entertaining but not always uplifting... if you catch my drift. If I had kids, I honestly wouldn't let them read this.
