"Horrible book. This book has no redeeming value. It traces a family of cops (terrible, unhappy cops) through 3 decades or so in the Philly area. When you read a book, you kind of hope for ONE character you can root for, or at least like. Even if the rest of the book is comprised of evil, sad people. There is no such character in this book.. Oh sure, some will say its a good portrayal of the gritty 60' in Philly, when the blacks and whites were fighting, and the riots and fires were commonplace. Ok, I will give it that. But its no fun to read."
