We started it and ended up pushing forward to see what happens. A bit slow for us not much of a plot. Ending was gruesome and graphic. I would also call it a low budget movie.

Good acting, interesting dialogue, sense of dread and ever-present danger can't overcome script that runs at least 15 minutes too long

A treat, if you like good dialogue and gore dished up by cave-dwelling cannibals. Zahler knows how to deliver a satisfying movie.

Really good movie: directing, cinematography, acting, editing, etc but...some scenes are so graphic. Not for the faint of heart for sure. Great movie, but do watch it after dinner...not before a meal. I didn't see why it had to be so graphic...sort of took away from the movie's finer points, but overall a great movie to watch with friends and family...but not a date movie.

Good modern Western- it is brutal though and contains graphic violence so consider yourself warned- the dialogue is quite witty, and the film has a stellar cast. Definitely watch this movie instead of Tarantino's woeful " Hateful 8 " ( both star Kurt Russell incidentally ).

Like a Hills Have Eyes the Western... It does start off good and then just falls apart. 90% boring and 10% shock value. I'm fine with graphic violence, but it was for purely shock value and not plot reasons. It just was a bad film all around.

I usually enjoy watching Westerns. In this one, the dialogue was entertaining during most of the movie and the acting was also good, but this one was a bit too gruesome for me.

I am no stranger to violence in a movie, but I do have to say that the other comments I have read are right on the mark. The one scene in particular, and I won't spoil it for those of you who do want to see it, is absolutely the most gruesome scene that I have ever watched in a movie! Good luck and don't have anything to eat before you watch this.

This movie started off great. Enjoyed the acting, intriguing plot, humorous moments... but then it took a ridiculous, horrible turn. Let’s just say that (spoiler alert) cannabalistic, abducting, rapist cave men just aren’t my thing.

This isn't a REALLY new film (2015), but it's certainly an auspicious one--the directorial debut of U.S. novelist and musician S. Craig Zahler. Took him two years after this one to direct another--get it at the library, too, but not if you're squeamish: Brawl in Cellblock 99. Zahler's picked up the pace recently: two features this year (2018), including one he's written and directed that's bound to create (another) cinema stir: a tale of corrupt cops, starring Cellblock headliner Vince Vaughn and bad-boy Mel Gibson as the criminally-minded cops. Enuff background...

What a mash-up this one is: 3/4 western, 1/4 horror flick. Has this been done before? The western sci-fi Cowboys VS Aliens has come the closest, I guess--If you omit the two vintage creature features, Beast of Hollow Mountain (Guy Madison) and Valley of Gwangi (James Franciscus).

I like a good western and this IS a good western--Zahler's intelligent script (he IS a writer, after all), avoids cliches putting some believable flesh on the bones of his characters, furthered by a good cast that includes Richard Jenkins (Shape of Water) and Kurt Russell (the revolting Hateful 8). Result: you really feel for these guys.

There's lots of feel, here, on other levels, too, a goodly dose of suspense and dread. Logic? Not so much, but then, when has logic intruded on a horror story? You might watch this and an hour later ask, "So where's the horror?" Ohh, it's coming! And it may make you wish you'd never started this American south-west rescue mission with these particular four mismatched men. Gives new meaning to the word, "gruesome."

"Say goodbye to my wife. I'll say hello to yours." ... says Sheriff Franklin Hunt (Kurt Russell) to Chicory (Richard Jenkins).

Mar 06, 2016

Here are some already in IMDb:
Sheriff Franklin Hunt: Say goodbye to my wife. I'll say hello to yours.
John Brooder: Smart men don't get married.
Chicory: You know, I know the world's supposed to be round, but I'm not so sure about this part.
Sheriff Franklin Hunt: Pain is how your body talks to you. You'd do well to listen to it.
Buddy: This is not the time for womanly imaginings.

The worst movie ever made by Hollywood. Shame on Kurt Russell and other actors to participate in this gory fiction movie. Children should not watch this brainless movie.
