Always a fascinating subject : the intricate relationship between a painter and his muse , in this story Edouard Manet and Victorine Meurent .
A very sensual and erotic novel which could have been pure poetical prose but the style is uneven, sometimes a few crude comments spoils a whole page as if another writer intruded .
