Wallander is Ystad's veteran detective who's finally learned to find respite from the job in the moments of grace that come from living on the beach with his dog, Jussi, or spending time with his granddaughter. He's still on the outs at work, however: offbeat methods make him an irritant for management and his colleague, Martinsson, is angling for his position. But no one in the department has the uncanny sense of the criminal mind that he does.

I like this series better than the British one. In the British version he seems to be trying too hard to be soulful. Then there's the father with dementia which is overkill and misses the point that Wallander is just a socially awkward guy. It's trying to look too hard for a reason for why Wallander struggles and hides behind his job to explain his isolation.

This is the latest in the Swedish Wallander series. This is the version with Krister Henriksson as Wallander which I prefer to the British adaptation. Good, solid, well-plotted, well-acted stories. Krister Henriksson as the world-weary detective is perfect casting.

great series I enjoyed the other actors playing the roll of kurt but find Krister Henriksson to be my favorite
