This book was quite enjoyable and quick to read. I enjoyed the pacing of the main romance as well as its time frame. I enjoy books that go beyond "I do" and explore some of the issues that couples face (even if this couple had more exciting issues to face than most of us). I'm also looking forward to the next book.

For a Christian historical fiction, it was not bad compared to most of them out there. It's obvious the author did a lot of historical research, and she doesn't shy away from taboo subjects. As can be expected, the romance parts are a little sappy, but not unbearable. I liked the overall plot and will read the next one for sure.
