This is yet another clever, original, provocative collection by one of my Mt. Rushmore authors. Atwood delivered a set of stories that challenged our preconceptions about aging and the supposed golden years

I will read ANYTHING by Margaret Atwood I love her so much. I liked the first three stories, which make up a little novella of sorts, and the title story "Stone Mattress".

It's best to read the novel The Robber Bride before reading the short story: I Dream of Zenia with the Bright Red Teeth.
A great collection of short stories.

Margaret Atwood is at her best with short stories, and these are no exception. I love that they offer different perspectives of the same events, reminding us of what a strong role perception plays in history. The characters are beautifully complex and individualized.

I absolutely think that the first three interconnected stories are the best in the book. I loved seeing the story through the eyes of three different people.
Torching the Dusties was my second favorite.

I didn't like the rest of the stories quite as much but the collection as a whole is stellar.

I only recently discovered the delights of current short stories. I am surprised by how quickly I am pulled into caring for the characters and the development of the story. Atwood makes me laugh - she takes her characters to extremely challenging situations and they lets their weaknesses act out. Definitely worth hunting down more of her books and reading twice.
