Excellent series with good plots, with two flawed yet interesting lead detectives, intriguing interrogation scenes. Well worth watching and highly enjoyable.

Simply awful. Cliched and trite characters and dialogue. Lesley Sharp, who was so good in "Afterlife" is totally wasted here. As is the very talented Rupert Graves. Suranne Jones, however, is pathetic as Bailey, and dumb as well. And as cops, these two commit perjury, blackmail and more. How delightful.
Did not waste my time finishing the series. There are so many other better ones out there.

One of the better British detective dramas. The stories keep you guessing but are not too far out. I will definitely check out Season Two. Scott and Bailey deserves five stars from this reviewer.

If you liked Happy Valley, you need to watch this TV series. Both were written by Sally Wainwright, and the dialogue is much better than most U.S. cop shows. She took a cue from playwright Barrie Keeffe, who "was an early influence – he never uses commas, just full stops… just hits of language. Like David Mamet it feels fresh and very alive and how people really speak."

I also love that the main characters are women - flawed, yes - but real and admirable in their resilience. Had to binge watch the 1st season, it was so good.! Looking forward to more of this.

Note: as of May, 2015, this is not available via NetFlix streaming. So, check it out at your library!

Very good series. Well acted, stories good.
however, somewhat unrealistic for a British police series, as the two main characters are Detective Constables, who are tamed together. Higher ranks, (Detective Sergeants and Detective Inspectors) take a back seat to them. All the interviews/interrogations are conducted by the Constables, while the higher ranks sit around taking the notes.Only the Detective Chief Inspector seems to actually be more in charge than the two constables. If you can get past that
totally unrealistic setting, it's a good series.

An excellent police drama with strong female characters. The interrogation scenes in particular held my interest. They held none of the manipulative and borderline or unacceptable police behavior which seems to be the norm for such shows. All in all I think that it is an excellent series.

How gratifying to find women that look like women and not stick figures. Great drama as well.

Prime Suspect move over.
Fantastic acting - didn't want it to end. I hope this series goes on for a long, long time.

Simply the best British detective going currently. Fine acting, interesting plots and does an excellent job integrating the 2 female leads' police work with their home lives. Check out this and Season 2!
