Reckoning is the amazing first adventure in the Silver Blackthorn trilogy. After a long and grueling war, England is “saved” by a new King. He then splits England into sections: the North, East, West and South. Think: The Giver mixed with Divergent style world with its own unique charm. Every year, sixteen-year-olds across the country will participate in The Reckoning. It will cement your place, purpose and status in this world. But when Silver Blackthorn gets chosen as an “offering” for the King, her life changes, and not in a way she was expecting. The reckoning was a captivating book, full of suspense and intrigue. The plot and characters were believable and convincing. This story is hard to put down and will have you wanting to read the next book right away. I would definitely recommend this book to teens looking for a great read. @tacoboutbooks of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library
