A U.S. military satellite crashes, and a search is conducted to recover its valuable cargo. But, the satellite turns up something chilling: an image of the eastern U.S. seaboard in ruin. Meanwhile, the Vatican receives a package from a vanished colleague. It contains a skull scrawled with Aramaic and a tome bound in human skin. The source of these items: Ghengis Khan, whose tomb allegedly hides vast treasure. Now, Sigma Force must solve a mystery that leads back to Christianity's roots.

Didn't care for the narrator, but that alone didn't deter me from continuing with the book. I found the story to be a bit too vast, making it bland and even a bit boring at times. Nonetheless, I am endeared to these characters and love seeing the story lines progress.

Entertaining. I agree that the narrator does not do accents well or women's voices but well worth the listen all the same.

I enjoy James Rollins' Sigma force novels and the science included in them. This one revolves around a comet, dark matter and the search for Genghis Khan's tomb.

James Rollins Sigma Force series could be considered techno-thriller. There are some science fiction elements to the series but it’s not primarily SF. In The Eye of God life on earth is threatened and Sigma Force has to deal with the usual suite of bad guys. Most of the action takes place in Asia from Macao to Lake Baikal. There’s a fair amount of SF content in the novel including dark energy and quantum mechanics. In fact the ending leaves 2 clear and distinct paths that the series can take for the next installment. It’s a great entry in this action series. Any series themes are a bonus.

One complaint in listening to the CD version is that the reader's Asian and Italian accents sound the same.

Seldom does a story with such an intriguing premise collapse so mightily into the abyss as this tale. This work is too long and unnecessarily violent for a good read, unless you are into some type of apocalypse. 1 of 10 stars
