This series is a culinary cozy murder mystery meets fantasy fiction. Not what i expected. It was just too weird and the plot not interesting enough for me to continue with the series.

I thought it was ok at the beginning but suddenly it turned into fantasy fiction.

I love the Charmed Pie Shoppe mystery series! Be sure to start with the first one chronologically as the plots, themes and people do build from one to the next. Ella Mae can infuse her pies with emotions, feelings, desires, and she does this to help her customers with their lives. Reminds me a bit of the cook in "Like Water for Chocolate" whose feelings (that she was feeling while cooking) went into her dishes, and passed into the people who ate the dishes. There are more twists and turns to the plots in this series, but I leave them to you to find out for yourself.

Loved it! Can't wait for # due Jan 2014. A great cast of interesting, strong women. Happy for the recipes too. Looking to read other books from Ellery (aka JB Stanley), and the other authors profiled at !
