This wasn't one of the best of Tyrone Power movies.

Amazing movie with a wonderful cast. "The Black Swan" was made in 1942 and stars Tyrone Power and Maureen O'Hara. Tyrone is the pirate Jamie Waring and Maureen O'Hara is Lady Margaret Decry. Director Henry King makes this into a high seas swashbuckling love affair. Now that is saying a lot, but the movie was written in part by the famous Ben Hecht. Leon Shamroy the famed cinematographer captures the beauty of the giant sailing ships and their crews at sea. The cast is rounded out with Tomas Mitchell and George Sanders. Tyrone Power should go down on a list of classic pirates with Errol Flynn. KCLS has 3 copies and only one copy is with a patron at the moment. It would be a great time to catch this classic Five Star Movie!

This was a great swashbuckling movie based on the book by Rafael Sabatini. Tyrone Power is Jamie Boy, a pirate turned civilized who falls for Lady Margaret (Maureen O'hara). She hates him for being a pirate, but her eyes say she loves him!!! Before they can resolve their relationship they must find a traitor and fight off pirates. Keep an eye out for George Sanders, a pirate Captain with a crazy orange beard. If you like this movie, try Rafael Sabatini's "Captain Blood", "The Sea Hawk", and "Scaramouche".
