An excellent read but a little gory for a young audience--I would recommend 12 and up. Fast paced and historically accurate. If you like Pirates of the Caribbean then you will enjoy this too. Another book with similar theme but more mature writing and older audience is The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle which I loved as a teen.
