This book surprised me, in a good way. A great story and a quick read. Caught my attention from the start. Highly recommend!

I truly enjoyed this book...my first from this author. A great insight into what it was like as a debutante in the late Victorian age. Corsets actually killed women back then, although they called it 'female hysteria.' I will read more from this author.

4.5 stars This was my first book by Siri Mitchell and i was thrilled with it! What the story communicated most to me was God's (Jesus) unconditional love for his people, just the way they are, I do not need to impress him by pretending that I am something that I am not.
The message was brought forth in the high-end glamour of Victorian New york where you will meet Clara who is on the edge of making her 'debut' into society. All her activites must be strategically planned and she must make a favorable impression on society because this will estabilish her reputation and ultimately land her a wealthy husband! Clara is faced with the choice of being something that society expects her to be or being who God wants her to be, which will disappoint others.

I liked the idea of the romance, it was suspensful and entertaining although I believe the romance should have had more focus and development.

Although the outcome was predictable, I enjoyed the book and it's characters. I look forward to reading more by this author.
