Mike Church, an L.A. gumshoe with a knack for wisecracks and tracing missing persons, doesn't have a clue when he's hired to help a beautiful amnesia victim tormented by nightmares. Then an eccentric antiques dealer and hypnotist leads Church to believe the source of the nightmares may lie in a past-life connection to Margaret Strauss, a world-famous pianist allegedly murdered by her composer husband in 1948.

A fun Hitchcock-style thriller/murder-mystery with a paranormal twist. If you enjoy fare like Vertigo or Obsession, then you'll dig this.

This one is worth watching for Branagh and Thompson speaking with American accents! It's a unique story with a strong cast.

Scissors. Scissors. Scissors. Yes. Indeed - Scissors!.... So phallic (?). And, yet, so suggestively female (?), as well.... And, believe me - Actual penetration can be oh-so deadly!

Slick. Glossy. Intense. Intriguing - (There's no denying it) - Dead Again was (most definitely) all of these things. But, alas, by the time that the ending rolled around, this film somehow failed to satisfy this viewer as being a genuine Thriller geared to the intellect..... Needless to say, though, Dead Again was an unusually constructed Suspense/Drama, if nothing else.

And, yet, regardless of being a well-crafted and highly-stylized film production (with shades of "Hitchcock" thrown in for good measure) - Dead Again's basic storyline was ultimately just too-too dense, and, yes, just too-too artificial, to actually achieve its overall magic to its anticipated potential.

"Dead Again" trivia - Upon its initial release back in 1991, this film remained the absolute #1 movie at the box-office, all across Canada and beyond, for 3 solid weeks running..... (*Watch movie-trailer*)

a decent movie with a good ending. I liked the black and white flashbacks. I thought it a little predictable as to who the killer was but the film kept the suspense up

I saw this when it originally came out because I am mad for anything Kenneth does. It is a terrific movie on several levels - romance, mystery, comedy. I have it on DVD and watch it occasionally. I love how it plays on the past lives and how the roles switched between the past and present stories.

Clearly the person that wrote the review before mine doesn't know what they are talking about! Apparently all their taste is in their mouth. And what baffles me is the fact that this person referenced "Hitchcock" when I am sure they really have no idea of his work and probably just watched one film.
So ignore it please and do watch this film! This was made when Kenneth and Emma were still together so the chemistry is there. And yes, Robin Williams was good but Andy Garcia's performance was good as well. If you are in the mood for a film noir, mystery and suspense then this is a great movie to watch!

I thought this was a good suspense film. It was a total bonus and surprise to see Robin Williams in this film as I did not know he was in it. He played a small role but of course, he played it very well! We will miss him.

it's almost a 1940s film noir. some of the cast from Branagh's Hamlet is here. also, robin williams is great as the bitter ex-shrink.

old movie, but has a nice twist to it and I like movies and books with a twist.

Far better-than-average period murder mystery, propelled by a strong, talented cast. Makes interesting use of vintage black-and-white flashbacks. Might even be worth 5 stars.
