i'd like it if the rating was included
I wonder if Bagdad Cafe (released in 1987) near Barstow, California was the inspiration for the thriving gentrified restaurant-bar located in the middle of nowhere that viewers see in later motion pictures. For example, Maggie's diner in Madrid, New Mexico in Wild Hogs (released in 2007).
I realized after beginning this film that I'd checked it out before, but I watched and enjoyed it the second time.
If you haven't watched this film you have really missed out. A German woman gets out on a bus stop in the middle of the desert and stops at a truck stop where she stays and eventually transforms everyone there. It's a gem...believe me, the story, the music will make you feel that anything is possible.
I really enjoyed this movie and watching the main character change from a downtrodden wife to a woman that chooses her own road/life.
It is a great movie about the magic of acceptance, of wonderment anywhere, and the rewards if an open spirit. So glad Palance was in this movie, but everyone is great.
This movie was entertaining and interesting but not one of my favorite for this year. “Not too bad---good performance”. "I fast forwarded a lot but not all the way.”
Wonderful quirky little movie worth watching. The main song "Calling You" is beautiful. Check this little gem out.
Indie treatment..just wonderful. A really feel good and inspiring film. I particularly enjoyed Jack Palance.
Just looking at the cover of the video & UNFAMILIAR title of the movie, one expects this movie is going to be about "THE USUAL SUSPECTS", gangs, drugs, violence & the law.
SURPRISINGLY,,, IT'S NOT.
It's about the MAGIC MOMENTS IN LIFE, opening hearts & mind & building friendships in desolate deserts, towns, cities & paranoid society.
Every paranoid society NEED to watch this film.
One of the most beautiful movies I've ever came across.
