My name is Fox Mulder. Since my childhood, I have been obsessed by a controversial global phenomenon. Since my sister disappeared when I was 12 years old... in what I believe was an alien abduction. My obsession took me to the FBI, where I investigated paranormal science cases through the auspices of a unit known as the X-Files. Through this unit, I could continue my work on the alien phenomenon, and the search for my missing sister. In 1993, the FBI sought
to impugn my work, bringing in a scientist and medical doctor to debunk it... which only deepened
my obsession for the better part of a decade, during which time that agent, Dana Scully, had her own faith tested. In 2002, in a change of direction and policy, the FBI closed the X-Files, and ...

Maybe some things are unexplainable, Agent Einstein.
-Mmm. The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious, the source of all true art and science. That's... beautiful, Einstein.
Yes, Einstein. That's who said it, Miller.

Although something is clearer to me now, as a result of the experience.
-The value of an open mind?
The nature of reality. I'm now convinced that words and ideas do have weight, the weight to move people to do the most psychotic things.
-Giving someone magic mushrooms?
I was talking about Agent Mulder.

It's like this. You throw your grande cup or your pop bottle in the right trash can under the sink--recyclables here, trash there-- you tie it in a bag, you take it outside, you put it in the right dumpsters. Pat yourself on the head. You're a good person, yeah? You did the right thing, you fought global warming, you love all the little animals. Well, Friday come, Wednesday maybe, garbageman takes the trash away. It's not your problem anymore. Magic! But it is your problem, because it piles up in the landfill. And the plastics leak toxins into the water and the sky. But if you don't see a problem, there's no problem, right?

Death is now viewed by some as merely another plane of existence.
===
There are other people who want to see this young man dead.
-I'm not one of them, Agent Miller. Last thing I want is for this... killer to die and go to
paradise or to his 72 virgins... in the sky.
Sounds like torture to me.
===
A church group brought 200 Arab refugees to our town, and now they're saying that they want to bring some more.
-Maybe we need to come back. Or maybe... we can talk outside.
It's all part of a government program paid for by my tax dollars, which means that I come to work every day, and I pay for these people... So I did some research, and I found out that this is all part of a plot by the United Nations to get these people into the US, so that they can form
terrorist cells.
-That sounds very suspicious.
Yeah. You turn your back on these people, you're taking your chance.
No. No, we don't want to turn our backs.

But do you believe that thoughts have mass? That ideas such as faith and forgiveness have weight much the same way this desk... has weight? Or any material, really.
-You are too much, Agent Mulder.
It's a legitimate question.
-There's a legitimate answer-- no.
How can you be so sure?
-Because when I stand on the scale and think of ice cream, my ass doesn't grow. Need I illustrate further?
Yes, but I'm sure you believe that words have weight-- the weight to move people to go kill other people.
-People kill people. Bombs kill people. Words can incite people to kill people as instruments of hate, but are not lethal in and of themselves.
Ever suck on a lemon, Agent Einstein? Do you feel a sensation right now? A quasi-measurable effect?
-I am getting a taste of what Agent Scully must suffer.

Since when do you believe in God, Mulder?
-What makes you think I do?
"God himself"?
-I speak merely as an investigator. Reports from Belarus to Canada, France, Italy, Germany, the Ukraine...
But as an investigator, you seem to give this phenomenon credibility.
-It's not important what I believe, Scully. It's important what they believe. The earwitnesses.
And what do they believe?
-"And I saw the seven angels that stood before God, and to them were given seven trumpets."
Revelations 8:2. A herald of end times.
You know that prophecies like this have been going on for centuries.
-Failed prognostications of doom, failed prophecy, even in the Bible. Yeah, God told Adam that if he ate the forbidden fruit he'd die, and he lived 930 years. Top that.
You know that didn't literally happen, right?
-'m just sayin'. It's your book.

My name is Dana Katherine Scully. I am a special agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, a career I chose after medical school, which promised a chance to further my aim as a scientist
and as a seeker of justice in a science-based world. Soon after joining the FBI, I was asked to review the work of a fellow agent, Fox Mulder, and to debunk the X-Files, cases involving what my superiors regarded as science fiction and a waste of resources. I quickly came to understand
Mulder's work on the paranormal wasn't such as I'd been led to believe, that the X-Files were worthy of Mulder's investigations and of mine, that a world existed on the far fringes of accepted science, a world where a scientist would have her strongly held beliefs tested and retested. I would also come to fear that the institution I'd joined and invested with my trust was subject to the influence of dark forces outside the Bureau and sometimes within, .

You think it's power, what you're doing, but it's not. It's sickness.
-It's sickness not doing it.
Spoken like a true psychopath.
-I didn't set out to destroy the world, Mulder. People did.
You can't justify your actions.
-We have just had the hottest year on record on planet Earth. I didn't do that. I'm not responsible
for the 40% loss of-of bird life or the decimation of the megafauna.
===
How does the virus remove the ADA gene?
-A process called CRISPR-CAS...
CRISPR-CAS-9. RNA and a protein cutting genes at exact locations.
===
Look at world history, Fox. Neither you nor I could save mankind from self-extermination.
-you plotted your endgame.
I just changed the timetable. Everyone still dies in the end.

Not very good. I liked the Alien conspiracy stuff but some episodes were unwatchable. the writing is poor, sometimes perfunctory and badly fast paced (lots of actors anticipating lines) and to many zingers from Mulder who seems disinterested in the reboot. Gillian Andersen was good but underused. The "topical" episodes (homeless monster and Islamic) were bad. watch old seasons instead,

One of those mismatched labels between DVD and B/R versions. Originally posted on Oct 09, 2016 for B/R disc:

This iconic Sci-Fi series was fortunate to star the same pair of celebrated actors as the antagonists Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) 15 years after season 9 in 2001 and over 2 decades since the first episode of season 1 was broadcasted in 1993. Only 6 short episodes but had enough footage to introduce the X-files history to new audience and featured a few paranormal monsters just like past seasons. Also, as both Duchovny and Anderson are getting up in age, a fresh pair of FBI agents with identical traits as Mulder and Scully were introduced as potential heirs to future series and to attract younger set of viewers. Lastly. the final episode took the mythology and conspiracy to the present cutting edge genetic surgery science in CRISPR (Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats), see link to Scientific American article in "Summary."

The stand alone episodes are not bad but the first and last episodes are bad. They should stop writing scripts with the government / alien conspiracy story line.

I did not find the middle episodes juvenile and not at all humorous, except possibly for adolescents.

The first and last episodes were reminiscent of the old X-files.

Great cliffhanger at the end; can't wait for the next season!

Episode 3 on the Weremonster is the only one really worth watching. The others are more of the conspiracy garbage that got the series cancelled in the first place. Weremonster is a creature feature. An alien appears in a small town and is bit by a human (serial killer) which makes him turn into a human by day and back into his true alien form by night. I thought it was cute and funny, taking the whole werewolf legend to a new realm. If you like the old creature features from X-Files, watch episode 3. The rest were disappointing.

Finally Fox Mulder and Dana Scully are back to solving the paranormal mysteries. This season was very good. One really hilarious episode involving a were-man. Don't want to spoil it but it's great. My only complaint is I wish that there had been more episodes so Chris Carter could of expanded the central plot with Fox and Dana's son. Oh for die hard X-Files fans if you look really hard when Mulder is hallucinating you can see The Lone Gunmen.
