Cinderella's Dress by Shonna Slayton

Being a teen-ager during World War II is tough. Finding out you're the next keeper of the real Cinderella's dress is even tougher.

Kate simply wants to create window displays at the department store where she's working, trying to help out with the war effort. But when long-lost relatives from Poland arrive with a steamer trunk they claim holds the Cinderella's dress, life gets complicated.

Now, with a father missing in action, her new sweetheart shipped off to boot camp, and her great aunt losing her wits, Kate has to unravel the mystery before it's too late.
After all, the descendants of the wicked stepsisters will stop at nothing to get what they think they deserve.

Wow, this was very cool! My two favourite genres together in one book: a story about Cinderella and her stepfamily's descendants (fantasy) set in 1944 (historical fiction). I love how the story flows and the idea of what happened AFTER Cinderella. Recommended for anyone who loves historical fiction/fantasy type stories!

This novel shows the burden of a future task before it has been passed down to you.

Very fun and creative concept but I feel like some plot depth and character development was missing. Still, if you like fairy tales and a bit of history, take this to the pool with you.

Fun concepts, and good ideas, but Cinderella's Dress just didn't capture my interest. For one thing, her relationship with Johnny was super confusing. Also, I felt as though the angry outburst she had about her job was contrived just to throw in an extra conflict. None of the characters were very real to me, and I thought the ending was way too simply accomplished. I don't mind fairy tale retellings, but they have to hook me. This one didn't.

In my opinion, fairytales will never grow old. It doesn't matter what age you are, but as long as you can remember the highlights from your childhood, you will fall in love with them all over again. This has been proved in so many texts that I have read, and classics will always remain classic. This beautifully written novel about the dress belonging to our well known princess captures many essences of ideas. There is definitely suspense, mystery, and an absolutely wonderful twist on what happened to Cinderella's gown. I would suggest an age over 12, as the concepts in the book are simple enough to understand. Readers won't be able to help themselves from indulging in the next chapter, and the next, and the next... 5/5 stars

This book was awesome! It was like the polish 1940's version of Cinderella. As weird and yes boring as that sounds its absolutely not. I mean you got family secrets,Modeling, a love interest, and excitement! I loved it.
