The Tea Rose is a pleasant story set in Victorian London with Whitechapel and the Ripper murders as its backdrop. The first of a trilogy, this historical novel offers a plethora of twists to the storyline including love, pain, tragedy,…

Although this book is second in a family trilogy, it can be enjoyed as a standalone. Set in early 20th century England and spanning to colonial Africa, this historical romance is stronger than most. The historical detail and multifaceted…

I have now read Jennifer Donnelly's Rose trilogy. All three stand alone in their own right but anyone would want more having read one.The Winter Rose appeals to me a great deal because part of it is set in Kenya in the early 1900's prior…

This was a terrific book. I think I liked it better than the first one in the series which I also loved. Its got romance, history and action. It was hard to put down.

I enjoyed this book a lot more than the first one, The Tea Rose. I especially like the change of setting as the end of this book is set in British East Africa. However, the female characters seem to have no flaws which is not realistic…

If you like this series, you might consider the PBS television series Bramwell. SPL has all three seasons. The protagonist is a female doctor in 19th century London who opens up an infirmary in the East End.

I enjoyed this book so much, I had to buy it for the sake of going back over and over to reread my favourite parts. I never read the first one, although I'd like to, and I'll probably read the third one when it comes out. However…

Several years ago I read and loved Donnelly's first novel, The Tea Rose. Just recently I discovered that it was the first in a series and immediately put a hold on the library copy of the second one, The Winter Rose. The first novel…

This is a great book - it's just too bad the library doesn't have the first book "The Tea Rose"... you can read this book without reading the first one, but you may be a bit lost (even though she tries to fill you in).
