SOS: Spot Online Scams!

5:30 PM – 7:00 PM

Description

Being online brings great opportunities to learn, explore, and connect with people, organizations, and companies. It also increasingly seems to bring risks of being scammed or otherwise taken advantage of when interacting with others. Join the Center for an Informed Public to learn about some common scams, how they operate, and tactics that you can use to help mitigate risk while interacting online. While no one can ever be 100% safe online, there are ways to be safer and many resources to help you practice these skills.

This workshop will focus on tactics outlined on the ScamSpotter website that are similar to the first 2 steps of the SIFT method but focused on financial scams.

This event will be recorded for later viewing on the Sno-Isle Libraries YouTube channel, and will be available for five years.

Registration is required to receive a reminder email with the Zoom link 24 hours before the event begins. If you register less than 24 hours before the event, your confirmation email will have the Zoom link.
