The Folklore of Zombies with author Lisa Morton

6:00 PM – 7:30 PM

Description

Before George A. Romero introduced the world to flesh-eating zombies in his 1968 classic Night of the Living Dead, these shambling corpses were something very different. In this illustrated presentation, author Lisa Morton explores the early folklore behind zombies, and how that led to their later cinematic kin.

Lisa Morton is a screenwriter, author of non-fiction books, and prose writer whose work was described by the American Library Association’s Readers’ Advisory Guide to Horror as “consistently dark, unsettling, and frightening.” She is a six-time winner of the Bram Stoker Award®, the author of four novels and 200 short stories, and a world-class Halloween and paranormal expert. Her latest releases include Calling the Spirits: A History of Seances and The Art of the Zombie Movie. Lisa lives in Los Angeles and online at www.lisamorton.com.

This event will be recorded for later viewing on the Sno-Isle Libraries YouTube channel, and will be available for 1 year.
